%LOCALAPPDATA%\notepad-graph |

The Notepad Graph Windows app ("the app") is a free memo and graph editor made by an individual developer. This policy explains what the app you install from the Microsoft Store does with information.
| Where | What |
|---|---|
Files you pick with the file chooser or open through the .ng file association | .ng files you save or open |
| The app window's browser storage (IndexedDB, OPFS, localStorage) | File links, temporary recovery copies of unsaved work, open tabs and other screen state. It is separate from your everyday browser and used only by this app. |
| "Ask for agreement" record in that storage | To decide when to ask you, a number counting edits that changed some text, the time of the last counted edit, how many times you said "answer later", and your answer. No note content is in it. It stays on your device, even before you agree. |
| Usage-count values in that storage (if you agree) | The install ID from section 3, your agreement status, a mark of whether the "you agreed" record was already sent, and today's total of active minutes and a mark of whether it was already sent today (the total is counted anew each day) |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\notepad-graph | Settings files such as the internal port number the app uses |
To show its screen, the app opens a small server at an address reachable only from your own device (127.0.0.1) and launches your installed Chrome or Microsoft Edge as an app window. That server cannot be reached from outside the device and does not communicate with anything outside. This data stays on your device. The developer cannot access it. Section 7 explains how to delete it.
To learn how many people use the app, and whether the people who agree actually keep using it, the app sends the following only after you agree:
| Field | Content |
|---|---|
| Install ID | A random unique number (UUID) created when you agree. Not linked to your name, email, account, or device ID, but this policy treats it as a personal identification number and handles it like personal information (it reaches Google together with your IP address). Clearing the app's data and starting over creates a new one. You can see it at the top of Help → Privacy Policy. |
| Kind | Which of the two above it is (agreement record or day of use). A "day of use" is the single fact that "that day's active minutes reached 10"; how many minutes you actually used that day is not sent. |
| App version | For example 1.134.6. |
| Time received | Not a value the app sends; it is the time recorded when the request arrives (see "How it is sent" below). |
How it is sent
www.google-analytics.com), over HTTPS. This is the only place the app communicates with. How active minutes are counted. While the app window is visible and focused, a click (pointerdown), key press (keydown), wheel, or scroll counts as at most 1 minute per minute. The app does not read or store which key you pressed, what you typed, or where you clicked. Mouse movement is not counted. Additional app windows opened alongside the first do not count or send anything.
Not sent: note content, file names, node counts or structure, the exact time you used it that day, counts by type of input or click, email, name, account, advertising IDs, cookies, location.
When a request reaches Google, connection information such as your IP address, arrival time, and browser type (User-Agent) is passed to Google. This is how internet requests work, and Google handles it under its own policy (Google Privacy Policy). The developer can see the section 3 values per install ID in Google Analytics, including when one install ID agreed, the history of which days it used the app, and the time of day the 10 minutes were reached. Google acts as a processor that handles these statistics on the developer's behalf, and the developer does not provide these values to any third party other than Google Analytics.
The Google Analytics property has Google signals and data sharing settings turned off, and event data is kept for 14 months.
| Transfer | Content |
|---|---|
| Data transferred | The section 3 values and the connection information above |
| Recipient | Google LLC (contact: see the Google Privacy Policy) |
| Countries | The United States and other countries where Google operates data centers |
| When and how | Once at the moment you agree, then once a day at the moment that day's active minutes reach 10, over HTTPS |
| Purpose | Section 5 |
| Retention | 14 months |
| How to refuse, and the effect | Choose "괜찮아요" (No thanks) when asked, or, even after agreeing, turn the switch off under Help → Privacy Policy inside the app; nothing is sent afterwards (section 9). The note and graph features are not affected. |
For users in the EU/EEA, Google relies on transfer mechanisms such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses; see Google's documentation.
Microsoft's own collection (separate). The Microsoft Store and Windows may collect statistics about installing and using apps under Microsoft's policies and your Windows diagnostic data settings. This is not information the app sends. The developer receives only aggregated statistics from Partner Center, not information that identifies individuals. How the browser that draws the app window (Chrome or Microsoft Edge) handles data is governed by that browser's own policy.
Used only to learn how many people use the app on a given day or month, how many of those who agree actually keep using it, and to compare whether all users overall use the app more often after each update. Not used for ads, profiling, or sale or transfer to third parties, and not passed anywhere except to Google Analytics. The legal basis is your consent (Article 15(1)1 of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act; GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can use every feature of the app the same way without agreeing, and you can withdraw your agreement at any time (section 9). Collection is limited to the install ID, the facts that "you agreed" and "that day reached 10 minutes", and the app version; note content is not collected.
The developer looks at aggregated statistics in Google Analytics, and looks at the records of an individual install ID only to investigate errors or to handle a rights request under section 8.
| Permission or behavior | Why |
|---|---|
runFullTrust (a restricted Windows capability) | To read and write the .ng files you choose, to launch your installed Chrome or Microsoft Edge as the app window, and to provide the .ng file association and File Explorer previews |
| Internet access | Used only, and only if you agree, to send the usage count to Google Analytics (section 3), never to send note content |
The app does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or account information.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\notepad-graph folder. Deleting that folder removes all of the app's storage, including the install ID (the .ng files you saved stay where they are). Turning off the consent switch alone does not delete the install ID on the device.Under applicable law (such as the Korean Personal Information Protection Act and the EU GDPR), you may ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your information, and EU residents also have the rights to portability and to object. Contact us in section 13 and we will respond within the time the law requires. Records are found by install ID. Please copy your install ID from the top of Help → Privacy Policy inside the app and send it to the contact in section 13. The install ID is not linked to your name or email, so without the number we cannot tell which records are yours and may be unable to act on the request.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live (Korea: the Personal Information Infringement Report Center, 118; EU: your local supervisory authority).
The usage count is turned on only if you agree. The install ID is created, the agreement record is sent once, and counting starts only when you press "알려 줄게요" (I'll tell you) on the request card. If you press "괜찮아요" (No thanks), you are not asked again; if you press "내일 답할게요" (I'll answer tomorrow) or just close the card, you are asked again only up to a set number of times, after which it is treated as "괜찮아요".
Open Help → Privacy Policy (도움말 → 개인정보처리방침) in the app's top menu; the switch, labelled 사용 빈도 집계 동의 (usage-frequency count consent) on screen, is at the top. Turn it off to withdraw your agreement; if you declined and later change your mind, turn the same switch on.
The app uses no cookies. It keeps the "ask for agreement" record and, if you agreed, the install ID, your agreement status, and today's total in the app's own browser storage (localStorage). It does not respond to the browser's Do Not Track signal. The app does not track your activity on other websites or services.
The app is not directed at any age group and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 (under 13 in the United States).
This policy applies to the Notepad Graph Windows app installed from the Microsoft Store.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date is updated. If more data is collected, the app's update notes will say so, and we will ask again for the agreement of people who already agreed before sending the new data.
